
She grew up surrounded by animals at her dwelling of Casa Azul, on the outskirts of Mexico Metropolis. They supplied companionship and solace, when she was bedridden with childhood polio (which left her completely disabled), and at 18, when she skilled a devastating bus crash (which shattered her backbone, and left her in long-term ache). In maturity, she stored many beloved pets, together with spider monkeys, birds, Mexican hairless canines and a fawn, and Rivera constructed a pyramid construction to deal with her menagerie.
