The US has arrested the sister of the chief president of GAESA, a sprawling conglomerate of military-run companies in Cuba, resulting from her alleged ties to the communist regime.
GAESA has been cited for reportedly diverting hundreds of thousands in support meant for the Cuban folks “on the behest of the regime,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in a publish on X Thursday.
Adys Lastres Morera was taken into ICE custody after the State Division revoked her lawful everlasting resident (LPR) standing, in keeping with Rubio.

Her standing termination was carried out at Rubio’s discretion. Morera entered the USA as a lawful everlasting resident in 2023, Reuters reported.

Morera is the older sister of Ania Guillermina Lastres Morera, who was sanctioned earlier this month for her function as government president of GAESA.
